Your first week on ScenePaper
What to actually do first, in order, for crew and for productions.
ScenePaper is large. This is the short path through it — what to do first, and what can wait.
If you are crew
1. Build your Crew Card. Your role, your location, your rate, and a headline that says what you actually do. This is your profile and everything else depends on it.
2. Add credits and a showreel. A card with nothing behind it is hard to book. Credits matter more than the reel for most departments.
3. Say where you stand, and submit for Gate Check. You state whether you are new, building or established, and write a short note on why you want to be cleared. Being new is a fine answer. Nothing goes live until a human reviews it — see Getting Cleared.
4. While you wait, look around. Browse crew calls, read the Green Room.
5. Once cleared, apply. You are visible in Scout and can submit to crew calls. Keep The Diary in mind — it fills in as you get booked.
If you are hiring
1. Set up your Production House. Company name, location, what you make. This also goes through review before it is public.
2. Create a project. Even for a single day's shoot. The project is the container for everything else.
3. Post a crew call, or scout directly. Both work. Posting brings people to you; Scout lets you go to them.
4. Review submissions and book. Shortlist, hold, book — see reviewing submissions.
5. Then, and only then, the production tools. Script, breakdown, schedule, call sheets. Read how a project works before diving in — the stages feed each other, and knowing that saves re-work.
What can wait
Budgets, departments, shot lists, equipment. All useful, none urgent on day one. The order above is the order the product actually rewards.
